Gluten free bread recipes . . . fresh from the oven, there’s nothing better than homemade breads!  

Mm-mm!

Can you smell the mouthwatering aroma?  

With so many ingredients available for cooks who specialize in gluten-free innovations, there’s no limit to the delicious bread creations that can be served.

Gluten free bread recipes abound.  So excellent are many of these, family and guests won’t have a clue they are enjoying a gluten-free delight.


Gluten Free Bread Recipes are an Opportunity  

Breads add fabulous flavor, tantalizing texture and needed nutrition to meals.  Enriching them further makes them powerhouses of nutrition.

Use whole grain flour in your homemade gluten free flour mix. Whole grains contain more B vitamins and phytonutrients.  

Include a teaspoon or more of brewer’s yeast (a.k.a. nutritional yeast) in your recipe.  With the protein equivalent of one egg and a concentrated source of B vitamins, this small amount is packed with health building nutrition.

The addition of brewer’s yeast is even more important for those who are allergic to eggs and must use Egg Replacer™ as the binder of choice in homemade breads and baked goods. 

Of course if you use my Gluten Free Flour Blend, you won’t need to add nutritional yeast to your recipe; it’s already in the mix!

Further increase protein in your homemade gluten-free flour blend by adding protein powder to the mix.  

Using powdered milk in place of fresh milk not only boosts the protein content of breads, it’s also a more concentrated source of bioavailable calcium.  This is an important addition because breads are generally rather low in calcium.

Simply measure the powdered milk into the dry ingredients and then add the liquid measure of water to the wet ingredients. 

For those who are allergic to dairy, unsweetened almond milk enriched with calcium is a good liquid substitute and makes superior bread products and baked goods.

Consider substituting a tablespoon of sugar with blackstrap molasses in each recipe.  Blackstrap can’t be beat for increasing iron and calcium in foods.  In breads, blackstrap adds a delicious depth of flavor and a warm color to otherwise pale gluten-free baked goods.

If you don’t mind bolder flavor in your breads, then substitute nutrient rich dark molasses instead of sugar, along with some blackstrap molasses.  

Other higher nutrient rich substitutions include raw honey and maple syrup.


Quick Breads

Quick breads are just that . . . quick and easy!

These breads, such as muffins, nut breads, biscuits and coffee cakes, are products that do not require raising periods before baking as do yeast breads.  

The leavening agents are baking soda and, in our instance, Homemade Gluten-free Baking Powder:  Corn-free & Aluminum Free.

Better yet, quick breads are versatile.

Take your basic nut bread, for example.  The batter can be baked as muffins, or in cake tins to turn out a rustic diner cake when topped with a buttercream frosting.  Use the batter to make waffles.  Slice the nut bread, dip it in an egg and milk mixture, and brown on the stove top to make a yummy French Toast.  Thin the batter a little and use it to make pancakes.

Served hot or cold, quick breads can be tasty treats or part of a delicious meal.
