Gluten Free Restaurant Guide

Dear Friends,

Food is an essential part of every culture throughout the world and making it enjoyable is important, whether cooking up gluten-free homemade meals, partaking in feasts as a guest with family and friends, dining out or experiencing regional and ethnic eats at bucket list travel destinations.

Avoid getting "glutened" by preparing ahead before dining out.

Use a gluten free restaurant guide.

There are apps, books and websites featuring certified gluten-free restaurants, 100% gluten-free food venues, gluten-free menus and safe gluten-free menu choices at chain and local restaurants in most every country in the world.

To avoid gluten cross-contamination it is always best to do an online search for gluten-free restaurants in your locale or for your chosen travel destination(s).

Confirm your choice options by contacting the restaurant(s) before you go.

Be gluten savvy; know which ingredients are gluten-free and which are not, because chef's, cooks and servers are not experts when it comes to gluten-free living.

When in doubt, ask your server for an ingredients list or consult with the cook or chef before ordering. Be sure to tip extra for service above and beyond the call of the duty and perhaps send a thank you note to the chef.

Better yet, help spread the word about great gluten-free eats to your circle of influence. There's no better way to say, "Thank you", than by helping to make someone's business a raving success.

When you don't want to dine out, but are craving one of your favorite restaurant menu items, recreate a gluten-free homemade version.

Imitate restaurant-style ambiance by setting a themed table-scape; turn the lights down low, add some candles and soft background music, and then dress up just like you would if you were dining out.

For example, use the menu suggestion below. Serve it on Chinese table settings. Melamine table settings and chopsticks are inexpensive when purchased at Asian food stores in urban ethnic neighborhoods.

Hang some Chinese paper lanterns. Use a red tablecloth and red napkins.

For an attractive centerpiece arrangement add a red or gold tea-light candle holder and a potted orchid.

Turn on some classical Chinese music to set the mood and serve the menu in courses.

Purchase some Chinese style take-out boxes and containers, and stuff the hot menu items inside them.

Stack filled boxes and containers inside a brown paper sack along with some bamboo chopsticks and paper napkins, and then set it down in the middle of a coffee table.

Turn on your favorite classic Chinese themed movie, kick back and enjoy delicious "take-out"!
