Creamy Macaroni and Cheese Recipe


Make it tonight! Put supper on the table in less than an hour with this easy to make Creamy Macaroni and Cheese recipe.

Cook Time: 45 minutes
Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients:
- 1 pound gluten-free macaroni
- 2 tablespoons potato starch
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- dash garlic powder
- 4 cups evaporated milk
- 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, diced
- paprika

Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Grease a 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking dish with butter, and then set aside.
3. Cook and drain gluten-free macaroni as directed on package.
4. While macaroni is cooking, in a small bowl combine potato starch, salt, dry mustard, onion powder, pepper and garlic powder, and then set aside.
5. In a Dutch oven over medium heat, melt butter.
6. Add potato starch mixture and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly.
7. Whisk in evaporated milk until sauce is smooth, about 1 minute.
8. Add diced cheese all at once, stirring constantly until sauce thickens and just comes to a strong simmer; stir constantly.
9. Cook for 1 minute more, stirring constantly.
10. Remove from heat and stir in drained macaroni.
11. Pour into a prepared baking dish.
12. Garnish top with paprika.
13. Cover with foil, sealing the edges.
14. Bake for 30 minutes or until heated through.

Bacon Penne and Cheese


  1. Omit onion powder.
  2. Add 1/4 cup (60 ml) scraped and minced onion.
  3. Omit macaroni.
  4. Add gluten-free penne.
  5. Prepare as directed in key recipe to instruction step 10.
  6. Stir in 1/2 pound (225 g) cooked bacon, crumbled.
  7. Pour the bacon penne and cheese into a prepared 13 x 9 inch (33 x 22 x 5 cm) baking dish.

  3. Omit onion powder.
  4. Add 1/4 cup (60 ml) scraped and minced onion.
  5. Omit garlic powder.
  6. Add 2 cloves minced garlic.
  7. Add 1 tablespoon (15 ml) tomato paste.
  8. Omit sharp cheddar cheese.
  9. Add 8 ounces (225 g) shredded Mexican cheese blend.

  11. Stir in 8 ounces (225 g) leftover cooked ground beef.
